Beat a Five Nights at Freddy’s animatronic to possess it, or defeat Freddy Krueger in the new Nightmare Neighborhood to claim his teleporting slash.
Fortnitemares 2026 is live in Fortnite until November 1, and the Island is in rough shape. Epic Games launched the Halloween event on October 1 with update v42.30, and its cursed “corruption” is spreading across Battle Royale, Horde Rush and Reload.
Two Freddys are loose on the Island
Freddy Krueger’s Nightmare Neighborhood
Freddy Krueger waits in Nightmare Neighborhood, a new point of interest. Defeat him to claim Freddy’s Nightmare, which teleports you into range so you can slash your next opponent.
Animatronics you can possess
Five Nights at Freddy’s animatronics also roam the Island as bosses. Bring one down and you can possess it. If your health runs out while you’re possessing one, you get a few seconds in which you can’t be eliminated before the shell breaks.
Bonerattler, Ghost Face and new Overrides
The new Bonerattler SMG reveals enemies through walls. Horde Rush is back, and Blitz Royale lets you become Ghost Face, armed with his Last Call knife. The new Overrides include:
- Spooky Sprinter, which cloaks you while you sprint.
- Berserk, which raises your damage as your health drops.
- Spooky Prop Hunt, which disguises you as a Halloween prop.
Reload’s return and the v42.40 update
On October 8, Reload’s Nitemare Island returned under Elite Kado Thorne, with The Hunt modifier and a new Ranked season.
The v42.40 update followed on October 15. It added the Honey Sprite, a #DesignASprite winner, plus the One Wish Willow Sprite and new Loot Hacks such as Finger Guns. With Auto Pick Up Weapons on, walking over a higher-rarity copy of a weapon you carry now swaps it in automatically.
A month of horror outfits
Five Nights at Freddy’s outfits, complete with battle damage, reached the Shop at launch. Epic says outfits and accessories from A Nightmare on Elm Street, Black Clover, Hollow Knight, 99 Nights in the Forest, Hazbin Hotel, The Purge, Obsession, Slender Man, Beetlejuice, Predator: Badlands and Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights follow throughout October.
If one of those is your favorite, check the Shop before the event ends.
