Choose a small circuit

Complete the introductory guidance available to your character, then find one activity you can repeat comfortably. Learn how to reach it, launch it, and return to free roam. Add a second activity only when the first stops feeling like a tour through unfamiliar menus.

Pay attention to the difference between money and progression. A job can teach useful movement or teamwork even when its immediate payout is not the largest number you have seen advertised.

Make the next login easier

Before leaving, note what you were working toward and where your useful equipment is stored. A simple objective such as learning a job with a friend is easier to resume than a vague ambition to buy everything. Treat promotions and time-limited bonuses as opportunities to evaluate, not obligations. Los Santos becomes more enjoyable when your evening has a direction you chose instead of a queue of popups choosing it for you.
