Learning Ashe: Make Control Part of Your Damage Plan
GAME MODE Staff·Aug 2, 2026· 1m read
Ashe’s slowing attacks give a first marksman lesson a useful focus.

Riot’s Ashe overview identifies Frost Shot as a passive that slows targets through her attacks. That control is part of what makes the champion interesting: dealing damage and influencing an opponent’s movement can happen together. Your position still determines whether you get to keep attacking safely. (Riot Games Ashe champion overview)
Practice moving between attacks
In a low-pressure setting, alternate an attack with a small movement toward a safer position. Focus on staying within a comfortable range without standing still longer than necessary. The goal is to maintain control of your own movement while recognizing how the target responds.
When a teammate creates an opening, approach from a position that gives you room to retreat. A slowed enemy is still dangerous if reaching them exposes you to the rest of their team.
Review the first unsafe step
After a fight, look for the point where you lost a clear escape route. It may have happened before you noticed the threat. Separate that positioning decision from whether your final attack landed. Ashe is a useful place to practice patient follow-up: contribute when there is a readable opportunity, then preserve the space that allows you to contribute again. Check current ability details after balance updates rather than relying on an old numerical build guide.
