League Classic is on the clock. Riot Games will end the nostalgia mode’s current run in January 2027, and Riot’s support site says it will be available until January 6, 2027.

Why Riot is wrapping it up

Meddler and Pabro explained the decision in an October 14 /dev post:

“We’ve seen a lot of players have fun revisiting the olden days with Classic. At this point though, most have gone back to other parts of League.”

So Classic will stay available through the end of Season 3. It may not be gone for good, though. Riot says its goal is to bring Classic back in the future, likely as an event mode with adjustments and additions. The mode launched this summer with 60 champions from League’s early years.

Classic’s countdown

  • Patch 26.20: Aatrox, Caitlyn, Irelia, Karma and Quinn joined the roster.
  • October 21, Patch 26.21: Mordekaiser, Yorick, Hecarim and Lucian arrive, along with the Act II Classic Pass and its single free track. The Classic store will sell only champions, runes and rune pages.
  • Through Patch 26.23: New champions keep arriving every patch, including Volibear, Urgot and Udyr, the top three in the most recent Council poll.
  • By November 30: Portrait refunds are due. Riot is refunding Classic-only cosmetics that will no longer be usable, such as Classic Portraits and Classic chromas, in RP.
  • January 4, 2027, at 11:59 PM PT: Classic Pass progress ends, so spend your Classic Pass Coins before then.
  • January 6, 2027: Classic is available until this date, according to Riot’s support site.

Windowed queues and custom-only regions

Korea, Latin America North and South, Taiwan, Vietnam, Turkey, Southeast Asia, Oceania and Russia are moving to windowed queues. Those open from 4 PM to midnight server time on weekdays and 10 AM to 1 AM on weekends.

Japan and MENA switch to custom matches only, while Classic custom games stay open in every region at all times.
