A closer look at the brick-built handheld and how to make its interchangeable details part of your display.

LEGO’s Game Boy set 72046 recreates Nintendo’s handheld in 421 pieces. It includes brick-built Game Paks inspired by The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening and Super Mario Land, along with interchangeable lenticular screens. This is a display model, with no digital game, light, or sound functions. (LEGO Game Boy 72046 product details)
Build the display around the details
The appeal is in the familiar shape and removable pieces. Give the model a shelf position where the buttons, cartridge, and screen remain visible rather than burying it behind larger boxes. LEGO lists a height of about 14cm, making it easier to fit beside books or other handheld memorabilia.
Keep whichever screen and cartridge you are not displaying in a small labeled container. A collectible with alternate parts becomes much less enjoyable when changing the scene requires searching through a miscellaneous brick drawer.
Make it personal
Choose the configuration that connects with your own Nintendo history. You could place a game case or a small photograph nearby, leaving enough visual space for the model to stand on its own. The result does not need a wall of expensive collectibles: one carefully arranged object can tell a clearer story about the games you remember.
