Pokémon's anniversary card expansion is almost here. 30th Celebration launches simultaneously worldwide on September 16, according to The Pokémon Company's reveal. The set mixes returning favorites with new artwork, and every card is foil, including Basic Energy.

What makes this set different?

Each booster includes one of 30 Pikachu illustrations. The expansion also introduces Futuristic rare cards, with Mew and Mewtwo artwork by YOSHIROTTEN.

For longtime collectors, classic reprints include Base Set Charizard and Pikachu & Zekrom-GX. Those commemorative reprints are not legal in Standard, though formats that permit the originals can still accommodate them. That distinction matters when choosing cards for a deck.

Which products are coming?

The official UK product showcase lists September availability for several formats. Its standard Elite Trainer Box contains nine boosters, a Nidorina promo and play accessories; the Pokémon Center version increases the booster count to 11 and adds a stamped Nidorina promo.

Smaller options include Sylveon ex or Greninja ex boxes with four boosters, a Poster Collection with three boosters, and a Binder Collection with five. Each booster contains five foil cards and one foil Basic Energy card.

The range continues beyond September. The UK schedule places Booster Bundles and Mini Tins in October, followed by the Day and Night Ultra-Premium Collections in November. Product availability should be checked for your region; the expansion's global launch does not make every box a September release.

Choose the format that suits your collection

Our suggestion is to decide what you want to keep before choosing a box. A binder, display piece or particular promo can make a product more appealing than its pack count alone. If your priority is opening boosters, compare the actual pack count and local price instead.

The appeal here is the mix of old memories and new artwork. Competitive players should check format eligibility for individual cards; collectors can start by picking the illustrations and accessories they actually want on their shelves.
