Grand Theft Auto VI comes out on Thursday, November 19, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, and digital buyers can start downloading it a week early. Pre-load opens at local midnight on Thursday, November 12.

Here is everything Rockstar, PlayStation and Xbox have confirmed as of October 31: the two editions and what they cost, the pre-order bonus, how the boxed version works, and the details nobody has announced yet.

GTA VI at a glance

  • Release: Thursday, November 19, 2026.
  • Platforms: PS5, where it carries a “PS5 Pro Enhanced” label, and Xbox Series X|S. PlayStation says it won’t be playable on PS4, and no PC version has been announced.
  • Pre-load: from local midnight on November 12.
  • Price: $79.99 for the Standard Edition and $99.99 for the Ultimate Edition in the US.
  • Single-player: Rockstar, PlayStation and Xbox all describe GTA VI as a single-player experience.
  • Ratings: ESRB Mature 17+ and PEGI 18 on the store listings.
  • Languages: menus and subtitles in 13 languages. The Xbox Store lists English as the only spoken language.

What does the $99.99 Ultimate Edition add?

The Ultimate Edition adds 16 items that Rockstar says are threaded through Jason and Lucia’s story, with new ones uncovered in each chapter. Five of them are places that only open for business with this edition: the Rideout Customs and One-Eyed Willie’s mod shops, Sara’s Unisex Salon, the Stock 305 streetwear store and the Electric Fang Tattoo Parlor, whose more than 50 tattoos were designed by the artist collective FAILE.

The rest include a ’95 Grotti Cheetah, his-and-hers Hawk & Little Morgan revolvers, engraved versions of Jason’s and Lucia’s pistols, a Classic Car Collection commission from a local fixer named Wyman, and the PTT Youngin$ job, a raid on a Southside Vice City gang’s compound.

There’s no boxed Ultimate Edition; it’s digital only. Standard owners can upgrade later with the Ultimate Edition Upgrade, which the Xbox Store already sells for $20.00 (£20.00, €20.00, CA$30.00, AU$30.00). The PlayStation Store lists the upgrade but doesn’t show a price yet.

These are the PlayStation Store and Xbox Store prices on October 31 (for France, the PlayStation Store’s). In the US, the Rockstar Store also sells the boxed Standard Edition for $79.99.

What do you get for pre-ordering?

Every copy pre-ordered or bought before November 20 comes with the Vintage Vice City Pack:

  • A two-tone ’55 Vapid Stanier sedan, kept in the Shore Court garage near Ocean Beach. The garage has a weapon locker and a secure spot to leave stolen goods to be fenced.
  • A vintage pastel linen suit for Jason, and a red sequin mini dress and curls for Lucia.
  • A pattern for most weapons, inspired by Tommy Vercetti’s palm tree button-up.

On boxed copies from the Rockstar Store, the pack is offered while supplies last. Buy the digital version before November 20 and you also get a month of GTA+, which then renews at the regular monthly price until you cancel. The membership pays GTA$500,000 into your GTA Online character’s bank account each month, adds special Shark Cards with 15% bonus GTA$ and free or discounted GTA Online vehicles, and includes the GTA+ Games Library of classic Rockstar titles.

Redeem the month by March 31, 2027 on PlayStation, or within 180 days of your pre-order on Xbox. The code in the boxed version covers the game and the Vintage Vice City Pack.

How to be ready to play on November 19

  1. Pick digital or boxed. The boxed Standard Edition holds a download code, not a disc, and becomes available for shipping and pickup from November 12. The code needs an internet connection and a platform account to download.
  2. Redeem a boxed code as soon as you have it. Codes redeemed before launch start pre-loading on November 12. PlayStation codes only work with accounts in the region where they were bought; Xbox codes aren’t region-locked.
  3. On PS5, switch on Automatic Login and Auto Sign-In. The PlayStation Store says auto-download needs both.
  4. Pre-load from local midnight on November 12. That gives you seven days to download before launch.

What Rockstar hasn’t announced yet

As of October 31, Rockstar, PlayStation and Xbox haven’t confirmed:

  • What time GTA VI unlocks on November 19
  • The download size
  • A PC version
  • What the PS5 Pro and Xbox Series X|S versions offer in resolution, frame rate or graphics modes
  • Accessibility features
  • An online mode, or cross-save between PS5 and Xbox
  • Game Pass or PlayStation Plus availability, or console bundles
