Pokémon HOME: Check the Destination Before You Move
GAME MODE Staff·Jul 25, 2026· 1m read
Compatibility and transfer direction matter more than a Pokémon simply appearing in your collection.

Pokémon HOME connects with several Pokémon games, but the official transfer guide sets different rules for different routes. A Pokémon can only move into a game that supports it, and some transfers are one-way. Seeing a Pokémon in HOME does not mean every connected game can receive it. Plan the complete route
Identify the game where the Pokémon currently lives and the game where you want to use it. Check that exact combination before confirming a transfer. Do not assume that a route available for one species, form, or origin applies to the next.
Keep the Nintendo Account connection consistent across the relevant devices. When something does not appear where expected, check the account and compatibility information before repeating the transfer attempt.
Organize for future play
Use clear box groups for Pokémon you intend to move, those you want to keep in their original game, and those still awaiting a compatibility check. A little organization makes a large collection easier to use. Our suggestion is to move a small, understood group first and verify its destination. The aim is a collection you can navigate confidently, with each transfer serving a specific plan for the games you play.
