Pokémon TCG Pocket is changing its rhythm. A new series of expansions starts at the end of October 2026, and in an October 15 producer letter, the game’s operations team said new booster packs will arrive about every six weeks instead of every four. Dual-type Pokémon debut in the new series, too.

Why are packs slowing down?

Players had told the team that the number of cards in each pack up to the B series made collecting difficult. The longer cycle is meant to let them build collections at their own pace.

The extra time won’t be empty. More events and missions will fill the gap between packs, and some immersive cards will be earned through missions for completing collections, alongside those pulled from packs.

What’s in the First Partners pack?

Special Pack: First Partners features the first partner Pokémon from all nine regions. It uses a separate special pack stamina that recovers once a week. On top of that, missions added weekly over three weeks will award three ★1 promo cards that share an illustration theme.

What changes for battling and trading?

  • Community Decks: see popular decks and friends’ decks in the game, then copy them with your own cards.
  • Rental decks: available as soon as each new pack releases, with unlimited uses, and they’ll work in versus battles.
  • Limited battle events: these follow each release, with restricted card pools and rewards based on wins.
  • Trading: shows cards of any rarity missing from a partner’s card dex.
  • Sharing: flags cards on a partner’s wishlist.

Where does Mega Mewtwo X ex fit in?

It’s the first dual-type card shown so far, a Psychic- and Fighting-type revealed at PokémonXP in August. None of this is locked in, though. The team says these plans are still in development and could change.
