Twitch Partners can opt in to have their best clips shared on Instagram and YouTube. Under Recaps Spotlight, launched on October 27, Twitch’s distribution partners may pick standout clips from a streamer’s Stream Recap and share them on their own social media accounts, and every promoted clip credits the streamer and points viewers back to their Twitch channel.

Twitch calls it the first program in a broader investment in promoting streamer clips, including beyond Twitch. It builds on Stream Recaps, which Twitch introduced on October 20.

Building a Stream Recap, step by step

A Recap is a highlight reel of clips from a livestream, put together so followers can catch up on what they missed. Streamers make one like this:

  1. While live, say “Twitch Clip That” to create a clip and add it to your Recap automatically.
  2. After the stream, build the Recap from your Stream Summary or the plus button in the mobile app.
  3. Review the clips. Ones made by you and your editors are included by default, and you can remove, add or edit them.
  4. Crop clips, re-caption them or change their layout.

Finished Recaps appear in a shelf at the top of followers’ mobile feed and also live on the streamer’s channel page. Twitch says viewer comments and reactions on Recap clips can help it pick clips to recommend to new viewers in places like the Clips and Live feeds.

Who can opt in to Recaps Spotlight?

Partners only, for now. Twitch said on October 27 that Recaps Spotlight would roll out to Partners over the following couple of days, and that opportunities could open to Affiliates in the future.

  • Participation is optional and set in Clip Settings on the web.
  • It comes at no cost to the streamer.
  • You can change the setting at any time.
  • Opting in doesn’t guarantee a clip will be promoted.
  • Clips are subject to eligibility and safety standards.

Twitch hasn’t named the distribution partners who will share the clips. It says it is exploring how clip promotion can extend into major game launches, tentpole events and other moments where communities create content at scale.
