Black Ops 7 Overload: Give Your Squad Clear Jobs
GAME MODE Staff·Aug 7, 2026· 1m read
Objective play gets easier when attacking, defending, and intercepting are deliberate choices.

The official Overload guide emphasizes movement routes and loadouts for different jobs: defending your zones, attacking the opposing carrier, and moving between those responsibilities. It is a useful reminder that an objective mode asks more of a team than winning isolated duels. (Call of Duty Overload mode guide)
Pick a responsibility before the action
Agree on who will support the carrier and who will watch the route behind the group. A player arriving late can help more by covering an escape path than by chasing the same target everyone else has already spotted.
Learn one direct route and one alternative on each map. The shortest path is not automatically the most useful if opponents are waiting at its final doorway. Pay attention to where an escort can see the carrier without standing directly beside them.
Review the objective, not just eliminations
After a failed push, identify the point where support broke down. Was the carrier isolated, was a defender ignored, or did the whole team rotate away from a threatened zone? Change one part of the plan for the next attempt. A clear call about your current job can be more useful than a long stream of enemy locations. Overload becomes easier to read when every movement has a purpose.
