A packed midsummer update

Call of Duty's live game gets a major refresh this week. Black Ops 7 and Warzone Season 5 launch Thursday, July 23, 2026, across both titles, bringing a heavy slate of new content as the outgoing Season 4 wraps up. It is one of the year's biggest updates, touching multiplayer, Zombies, and Warzone all at once.

The season leans into variety, with new and remastered maps, a narrative capstone for Zombies, and fresh mechanics for the battle royale.

What Season 5 brings

The content list spans every mode:

  • New multiplayer map Jubilee, a rural Japanese festival setting, plus mid-season additions Turbo Tilt and Freerun: Descent, and remastered maps Frequency and Dig.
  • A Zombies season finale featuring survival map Eidskallen Lighthouse, a Kowakujo Directed Mode, and Rogue Run: Astra Malorum, with the Widow's Wine perk arriving mid-season.
  • Warzone adds a new point of interest, Drone Labs, plus an HKD drone killstreak and a mid-season Quickdrop Kit.
  • Battle Pass headliner operator Spectre, with new weapons including the FG42, Gremlin, Mammoth, and Mace.
  • Ranked Play returns in both multiplayer and Warzone Resurgence.

Why it matters

Season 5 is designed to re-energize the player base at a crucial midpoint. The mix of a brand-new map in Jubilee, playful mid-season additions like the pinball-inspired Turbo Tilt, and remastered fan favorites gives multiplayer players plenty of fresh ground to fight over.

The Zombies season finale is a highlight for that mode's dedicated community. Billing Eidskallen Lighthouse and the Astra Malorum content as a capstone gives Zombies fans a narrative payoff, while the mid-season Widow's Wine perk and Legacy Weapons cater to longtime players who appreciate callbacks.

For Warzone, the Drone Labs point of interest and the HKD drone killstreak inject new tactical options into the battle royale, and the Quickdrop Kit aims to speed up the redeployment loop that keeps matches moving. The return of Ranked Play across both multiplayer and Warzone Resurgence is significant for competitive-minded players, giving structured, reward-driven progression a home again.

Taken together, Season 5 is a substantial, well-rounded update that gives every type of Call of Duty player something to chase. Landing July 23, it aims to carry the game's momentum through the summer ahead of the year's next mainline release.
