Elden Ring now runs on six platforms, with Switch 2 joining the list on August 28, 2026. Each version has its own options, so we went through Bandai Namco, FromSoftware, Nintendo and Steam’s official listings to lay them out.

What do you get on Switch 2?

The $79.99 Tarnished Edition plays in TV, tabletop and handheld modes and supports HDR output on compatible TVs. Nintendo lists a 41.0 GB download, and online play needs a Nintendo Switch Online membership.

One controller catch: the game supports the Joy-Con dual-controller grip, but not a single Joy-Con held sideways.

Which versions have ray tracing?

Elden Ring and Shadow of the Erdtree are available on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC via Steam, and the expansion supports Smart Delivery on Xbox. Since Patch 1.09 in March 2023, PS5, Xbox Series X and PC have had a ray tracing option. To use it:

  1. Open Game Options on PS5 or Xbox Series X, or Graphics on PC.
  2. Find the ray tracing option and switch it on.
  3. Keep an eye on performance, because the patch notes warn that it can affect frame rate and resolution.

What PC do you need?

FromSoftware’s minimum spec for the expansion calls for Windows 10. Next to Nightreign’s minimum, the rest looks like this:

Turning on ray tracing raises the expansion’s minimum to 16 GB of RAM and a GeForce RTX 3060 Ti or Radeon RX 6700 XT.

Where does Nightreign run?

Nightreign is sold separately on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and Steam, and the Tarnished Edition doesn’t include it.
