The bug-fix-only update stops Piquebone Arrows inflicting status buildup when shot a certain way, and Nintendo Switch 2 isn’t among its target platforms.

Elden Ring patch 1.17.2 is out, and it is required for online play. Bandai Namco announced the release on Tuesday, October 20, in its “ELDEN RING – Patch Notes Version 1.17.2” post, and the update brings bug fixes only, with no additional content.
The headline fix is for Piquebone Arrows and Fletched Piquebone Arrows, which could inflict status buildup when shot in a specific way.
Every fix in patch 1.17.2
Bandai Namco lists four fixes, two of them for graphics that didn’t display correctly:
- Shooting Piquebone Arrows and Fletched Piquebone Arrows in a specific way no longer inflicts status buildup.
- Characters now display correctly when wearing the Gold Tattoo Chest armor with the Hide Helmet option on.
- Left-hand graphics now display correctly when using the Repeating Crossbow Skill in the left hand while holding Leontiel’s Greatsword in the right.
- Some text in the credits has been corrected.
On PS4 and PS5 only, the patch also enhances security for network features.

Which platforms get it?
The patch targets PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Steam. Nintendo Switch 2 isn’t listed, and Bandai Namco’s notes don’t say why.
To check that you’re up to date, look at the title screen after updating. It should show App Ver. 1.17.2 and Regulation Ver. 1.17.3. Without the update, you can’t play online.
