Elden Ring Tarnished Edition Is Out on Switch 2 With Shadow of the Erdtree

The Lands Between now fit in your hands. Elden Ring Tarnished Edition launched worldwide on Nintendo Switch 2 on August 28, 2026, bringing FromSoftware’s open-world action RPG to a Nintendo platform for the first time.

• Price: $79.99 on Nintendo’s US eShop.
• The package: an all-in-one release from Bandai Namco and FromSoftware that bundles the original 2022 game with the 2024 Shadow of the Erdtree expansion.
• New content: two starting classes, the Heavy Knight and the Idus Knight, plus four new armor sets and three appearance options for Torrent, the player’s Spectral Steed.
• Download: 41.0 GB, according to Nintendo’s UK store.
• Play modes: TV, tabletop and handheld, with HDR output on compatible TVs.

Online play, co-op and two bonus gestures

Online play requires a paid Nintendo Switch Online membership. With one, you can bring up to two other Tarnished into your world for co-op, and the Colosseum hosts battles of up to six players.

The gestures “The Ring” and “Ring of Miquella” were early-purchase bonuses. Missed them? FromSoftware says you can also earn them by completing co-op with someone who already has them.

A year later than first planned

• April 2, 2025 — FromSoftware announces the edition for release that year.
• October 23, 2025 — Bandai Namco and FromSoftware move it to 2026.
• June 4, 2026 — the August 28 date is announced.

The two companies gave their reason in the October 23 statement:

“While development is progressing wholeheartedly towards release, it was deemed that more time is required for game performance adjustments, and the decision to change the release date was made.”

Elden Ring has shipped more than 30 million units worldwide. If you play on PlayStation, Xbox or PC, the new classes, armor and Torrent options are sold separately there as the Tarnished Pack.
