Pokémon Legends: Z-A and Champions Hand Out Vivillon Before a Mega Evolution Battle
GAME MODE Staff·Nov 2, 2026· 3m read
Z-A players can claim a Spewpa that can evolve into one of 16 random Vivillon patterns, and Champions gives 666 VP for a Z-A Vivillon until January 30.
Vivillon is at the center of events in two Pokémon games. Pokémon Legends: Z-A is giving out a Spewpa that can evolve into Vivillon with one of 16 patterns at random, to celebrate the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Mega Dimension bundle, and Pokémon Champions rewards players who bring a Z-A Vivillon over through Pokémon HOME.
Champions also has a new competition on the way. Mega Evolution Battle is open from Thursday, November 5, to Sunday, November 15.
What’s in the Mega Dimension bundle?
The bundle came out on Thursday, October 29. It puts Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition and the Mega Dimension DLC on one game card, with the same game content as buying the two separately, so Switch 2 Edition owners only need to buy Mega Dimension. Nintendo’s US store lists the physical bundle at $99.99, rated Everyone 10+, and buying it includes a serial code for 100 Ultra Balls via Mystery Gift.
Mega Dimension continues the story with the Mythical Pokémon Hoopa and mysterious spatial distortions that appear throughout Lumiose City. You have to complete Z-A’s main story before you can play Mega Dimension’s story.
How to claim the Spewpa in Z-A
The Spewpa Mystery Gift is available until Wednesday, November 18, at 5:59 p.m. PST. It works with digital or physical copies of Pokémon Legends: Z-A or the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, once per save data, and needs an internet connection and a Nintendo Account but not a paid Nintendo Switch Online membership.
- Play for about one hour, which is when Mystery Gift unlocks.
- Open the main menu and select Link Play.
- Choose Mystery Gift, then Get via Internet.
- Save the game.
Spewpa can evolve into Vivillon once it reaches Lv. 12. The 16 possible patterns exclude the Meadow, Marine and Garden Patterns normally found in Lumiose City, and the special Poké Ball Pattern.
That last one is the prize in the worldwide Vivillon Challenge. Vivillon Points from Trainers evolving Spewpa are tallied together, and if they reach the goal of 660,000 points, players can receive a rare Poké Ball Pattern Vivillon. Spewpa caught in the wild or obtained through side missions also earn points when evolved, the challenge has no end date, and the distribution timing will be announced separately if the goal is reached.
Pokémon Champions: Vivillon gifts and the Mega Evolution Battle
Store a Vivillon befriended in Z-A in Pokémon HOME, bring it to visit Pokémon Champions, and you unlock a Meadow Pattern Vivillon Trainer icon, six Training Tickets and 666 VP. The gifts run until Saturday, January 30, 2027, at 6:59 a.m. PST, on both the Nintendo Switch and mobile versions.
Mega Evolution Battle is a Double Battles competition that only Pokémon capable of Mega Evolution can enter. Registration opens on Thursday, November 5, at 6:00 p.m. PST and stays open until the event ends on Sunday, November 15, at 6:00 p.m. PST. To enter, go to Battle, then Online Competitions, and select Mega Evolution Battle.
Finish three or more matches, win or lose, and you get the participation title Mega Evolution Battle Challenger. Rank titles depend on where you finish:
- 1st to 100th: Mega Evolution Battle Master
- 101st to 1,000th: Mega Evolution Battle Veteran
- 1,001st to 10,000th: Mega Evolution Battle Ace
- 10,001st to 100,000th: Mega Evolution Battle Rising Star
Once the competition ends and results are announced, rewards are collected from the in-game mailbox, under Battle and Online Competitions.
