Remedy’s sequel trades the Oldest House for focused city zones and a more melee-driven hero.

Control Resonant launches on PlayStation 5 on September 24, taking Remedy’s paranatural series beyond the Oldest House and into a distorted Manhattan. The sequel centers on Dylan Faden, Jesse’s younger brother, and his search for her.
Focused zones instead of one open world
The city is not presented as one seamless open world. Instead, players move through substantial, focused zones containing story missions, missing-person investigations, environmental tasks, combat encounters, and optional arcade challenges. A recap trailer is included for players who need the first game’s events refreshed.
Dylan fights at closer range
Dylan’s abilities lean more heavily toward melee combat than Jesse’s did. His shapeshifting Aberrant weapon has primary and secondary forms, with upgrades that can add status effects, shorten cooldowns, or improve combo finishers. Combat Abilities can provide a shield, launch projectiles, or assemble an ally from nearby debris. Those abilities consume Power, which melee attacks restore.
Players can change equipment and test combinations in a hub called the Gap. Mission priorities can also be adjusted, allowing the main story, the search for Jesse, and side stories to compete for attention without turning the structure into a conventional open world.
Remedy’s surreal tone remains the main attraction: warped taxis, intrusive messages from the Board, and large Resonant encounters bring the original game’s visual language into a broader setting.
