Mario Kart World’s free 1.8.0 update turns familiar scenery into selectable races. Nintendo’s September 9 breakdown confirms ten Super Mario Kart-inspired courses now appear in VS Race and Online Play, including Choco Island, Vanilla Lake and Ghost Valley.

Two more Knockout routes

Propeller Rally connects Acorn Heights with Airship Fortress. Turnip Rally runs between DK Pass and Shy Guy Bazaar. Clear at least one Knockout Tour Rally to unlock the new routes.

Bring spectators along

Groups in Online Play and LAN Play can now include spectators. The group limit rises to 26, allowing 24 racers and two viewers; races still have a maximum of 24 drivers. Viewers can switch perspectives and check live standings.

Photo Mode also gains filters. For a group returning to the game, the update offers a straightforward session plan: try the classic-inspired courses, unlock the rallies, then rotate spectators between races. Check that everyone has installed the update before assembling the lobby.
